When did you discover your passion for photography? How long have you been in the industry?
I have been a full-time wedding & portrait photographer, based in The Blue Mountains since 2011. Before this, I was a Stock travel photographer for a little over 2 years.
What’s your favourite part/moment of a wedding to capture?
I love the little informal moments. Those little fleeting informal photos that capture friends & family naturally. In years to come, they are the photos that rise to the top of many couples' wedding day favourite memories of their big day.
What advice would you give to couples when looking for a photographer for their wedding?
The first thing I say to my potential clients is to take a look at my work, to ensure they love what I do. If you are unsure, you should not engage their services. When all is said & done & long after the wedding day is over, it’s the images captured on the day that should bring a smile to people's faces. Those fleeting moments captured of loved ones that may not be with us or friends/family that have moved across the other side of our country or even the world.
The next piece of advice is to ensure you understand exactly what your photographer is offering you. The time to ask questions about what you will receive is before you sign anything and not after your images have been delivered & you are disappointed because of a misunderstanding. All of my clients are sent a written quote stipulating exactly what they will receive. Like most industries, however, there is jargon & it’s always best to clarify what your photographer means when they say *edited* vs *post-processing* or *jpeg* Vs *Raw*
When planning your ceremony time, have a chat with your photographer as they can walk you backwards with timing based on sunset & reception times to ensure you have those lovely images we all see on the various social media platforms.
I also ask my clients if they have one image in mind, that if they were to wake up the day after their wedding & there was a photo in a frame from their wedding day beside the bed. What does it look like? If your photographer captures that image for you, then they are the best photographers in the world.
